Last Wednesday the annual investiture of Centre student leaders was held in the Wareek Gymnasium. The evening was introduced by MC Mr Graeme Forrester; however the evening was largely conducted by this year’s student leaders. Once again these fine students demonstrated the excellent qualities that have enabled them to achieve these positions of responsibility for 2009. In addition to Mr Forrester, the official party consisted of Centre Principal Mr Barney Healy, Central Goldfields Mayor Mr Chris Meddows-Taylor, Deputy Principals Mr Rodger Brown, Mr Ian Kemp, Acting Deputy Principals Mr David Sutton and Mr Graeme Forrester, Loddon Mallee Regional Network Leader Mrs Helen Hobley, Business Manager Mrs Tracey Smith, Sports Coordinator Ms Cindy Cossar, Assistant Sports Coordinator Mr Neil Griffiths, and SRC Coordinator Ms Tegan Crosbie.

Again the Centre musicians showed the great depth of musical talent we have at MEC. The Centre band played to their usual exemplary standard under the guidance of Mr Shane O’Callaghan as guests entered the gym, gave us a inspirational rendition of the national anthem, and played again during the investiture ceremony.

During his address Centre Principal, Mr Barney Healy spoke of the attributes students have demonstrated in achieving their leadership positions, and the challenges that lie ahead in fulfilling their expectations for the year. He also spoke of the vast array of leadership opportunities available to all students within our Centre, and that all students have the opportunity to develop these life skills within our Centre programs.

Mr Chris Meddows-Taylor spoke of the leadership already demonstrated by our students within the community, and particularly in their recent exemplary efforts in raising funds for the Bushfire appeal.  The evening was a wonderful demonstration of the depth of talent and dedication we have within our student body to make a difference to our school and community.
